The UNM Children’s Hospital Child Life Program will sponsor an unveiling at 2 p.m. on Friday of three pieces of artwork created through the Splashes of Hope Foundation.

Splashes of Hope Foundation works with artists and medical professionals to create customized murals that address the needs and goals of the patients at each health care facility.

These murals are created using individual themes, colors, and images chosen by the healthcare staff and the artists to stimulate the healing process.  They can then be used as tools for pain management, therapeutic distraction, soothing visualization and focal points during necessary procedures or medical care.

Three murals have been funded by a local benefactor two will be placed in the treatment room on the Pediatric Acute Care Unit at UNM Children's Hospital and 1 mural will be installed at the Children's Psychiatric Center, UNM Hospital.

The unveiling will be in the 6th Floor Child Life lobby of the Bill and Barbara Richardson Pavilion of UNM Hospital.  Please contact Julia Grimes, Child Life Program with any questions 272-9622.
